  • Langolab

Langolab is currently my main endeavor. The site facilitates the social accumulation of knowledge about foreign language, grammar, and lessons in a novel way, using a rich client interface to map this knowledge to foreign language video. We are currently testing Langolab hypotheses with Italian natives learning English, and in private beta with Korean, Japanese, and Chinese English learners.

Tech details: Google Web Toolkit, Java, Actionscript 3, Flex, Tomcat. Runs entirely on Amazon EC2/S3.

  • The Picture Game

The Picture Game is a Langolab side-project I started during a recent all-night hackathon. It pairs people with complementary language interests (e.g. German speakers learning English with English speakers learning German) in a real-time game that helps them learn each others' language. Currently in closed beta in a few high school and college classrooms domestically and overseas.

Tech details: Comet, Erlang, Amazon EC2/S3, Python, Pylons, Google App Engine, jQuery

    Picture coming soon!

  • Match-O-Mat

Match-O-Mat is a side project that was very fun to build and acted more or less as a prototype for The Picture Game. It was modeled as a social version of the Thematic Apperception Test, and allows two users to connect in real-time to share reactions to photos and chat.
